Sarah Matsushima is a versatile vocalist and songwriter. While her own music trends toward pop, R&B, and jazz, she is able to navigate many styles with ease, including classical repertoire. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Songwriting and Vocal Performance from Berklee College of Music, and is currently pursuing a Masters degree at New England Conservatory’s Contemporary Improvisation Department. She is also a founding member of the vocal jazz group, The New Standard.
Sarah is a skilled improviser with a wide vocal range, able to use her instrument with a variety of timbres. With piano being her primary instrument as a child, Sarah learned to accompany herself for songwriting purposes and now prides herself as an adept accompanist in both jazz and classical genres as well.
Sarah loves to dance and took lessons for 15 years growing up. She was a member of a youth tap company!
